Course Name: Preparation for the French Language Studies Diploma Exam / DELF Courses

These courses aim to prepare learners for the Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française (DELF) exam at its various levels, starting from level A1 up to level B2, to help candidates pass the DELF exams successfully.

The DELF is an official diploma awarded by the International Center for Educational Studies in Sèvres, France. It is a lifelong, internationally recognized certificate issued by the French Ministry of Education. Holding a DELF certificate allows students to obtain scholarships in Francophone countries and enroll in any French university without having to take a placement test in French. The DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) certifies the holder’s level of proficiency in the French language.

Mode of Instruction: In-person.

Target Group: The DELF certificate is useful for anyone who wishes to demonstrate their proficiency in French and improve their opportunities for communication, study, and work in Francophone environments. This includes Yarmouk University undergraduate and postgraduate students, local community members, and individuals interested in obtaining an international language certificate.

Enrollment Requirements: Learners must take a placement test to determine their appropriate level.

Course Description: The DELF courses are preparatory courses designed to help learners pass the DELF exams successfully. These internationally recognized certificates demonstrate the learner’s level of French proficiency and aim to equip participants with essential skills to communicate in French in various everyday situations, from simple to complex.

DELF Levels: The DELF consists of four independent levels:

  • Beginner Level (A1)
  • Elementary Level (A2)
  • Intermediate Level (B1)
  • Upper Intermediate Level (B2)

General Objectives of the DELF Preparation Course

The DELF preparation course aims to help students and learners succeed in this important exam by training them on how to approach it and assess their language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Main Objectives of the Course:

  • Improve listening and comprehension skills.
  • Develop speaking and oral expression skills.
  • Enhance reading skills, pronunciation, and written comprehension.
  • Strengthen and develop writing skills.
  • Familiarize learners with the nature, structure, formats, and types of DELF exam questions at all levels and train them on solving sample and mock tests.
  • Boost learners’ confidence and motivate them to learn French.
  • Provide learners with strategies and tips for successfully passing the exam.

In addition to the main objectives, the DELF preparation course also includes:

  • Reviewing French grammar and vocabulary.
  • Learning new techniques for handling international language exams.
  • Practicing with previous sample tests.
  • Providing tips on time management during the exam.
  • Informing learners about the score distribution for each level of the DELF exam and the evaluation mechanism for all skills and questions.

Course Duration per Level

25 training hours per level over 5 weeks, with 5 hours per week.

Distribution of Training Hours:

  • Listening comprehension: 6 training hours
  • Reading comprehension: 6 training hours
  • Oral expression and speaking: 6 training hours
  • Written expression and composition: 7 training hours

Course Fee per Level: 125 Jordanian Dinars

Course Description:
These courses start from level A1 (for beginners) and progress up to level B2 (for advanced learners). They are particularly suitable for university students, as they help develop all four language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The Language Center at Yarmouk University uses the distinguished Edito book series, approved by the French Embassy and the French Institute in Amman. This series is one of the leading educational resources designed for teaching French as a foreign language and is known for its comprehensive content. It is an ideal choice for teaching French in academic curricula, combining traditional educational materials with modern digital features. Each level includes two books: a student’s book and an activity/exercise book, along with high-quality audio recordings.

This type of course focuses on understanding and comprehending written and audio texts, grammar, vocabulary, written expression, and oral expression simultaneously, and at all levels.
